A project in development by Brokentalkers.
The performance is set on a private beach. The piece is a response to the current refugee crisis gripping Europe and the notion of sovereignty of one people over a piece of land; and the lengths people will go to create barriers to entry to their dominion. The work takes an allegorical approach to the telling of the story where one family are faced with the arrival of a single outsider to ‘their’ beach.
The piece speaks to the themes of historical migration, colonization and invasion and seeks to illustrate historical trends of migration throughout millennia.
