Families
The Civic warmly welcomes patrons of all ages
The Civic has a long history of welcoming children to the theatre, whether they are performing on stage, or visiting a theatre for the first time as a patron. Please read through the information below if you are visiting as a family, in order to have a pleasant and enjoyable time.
We are always looking develop our services; please get in touch if you think anything can be improved for your next visit.
Forthcoming Events
We have a continuing programme suitable for all ages, for the most recent and up to date list, please see our What’s On page.
Age Guidance
Every single one of our events comes with a specific Age Guidance Rating, found on the event page. This rating is discussed in collaboration with the visiting company, and should be used as a guideline for parents.
If an event is suitable for all, Babe in Arms Tickets will be available through the Box Office only for very young patrons (2 and under). Everyone entering the auditorium must have a valid ticket.
We ask that children under the age of 13 are accompanied by an adult at all times.
If you are unsure if an event may be suitable for your child, please contact the Box Office.
Facilities
Booster Seats
We know that very small children may have difficulty seeing the action on stage, especially if they are sitting in the very front three or four rows. There are a limited number of booster seats available inside the auditorium. These are first-come first-served once the house is open. Please ask the Ushers for more information. If your child has a car booster seat feel free to bring it in.
General Guidance
The Civic auditorium is built to amplify sound from the stage. Please be aware that noises from the stalls can be disturbing to other patrons. If you notice that your child is becoming unsettled, please make your way into the foyer.
