News is Brewing from The Civic

The magic returns with ‘Pocus Hocus’ The Civic #HalloweenSpooktacular running 24 – 31 Oct. We are thrilled to announce this years cast. Next up is Niamh Kavanagh as Winnie!

Winnie: Niamh Kavanagh

Niamh Kavanagh has been singing for most of her life. She began singing in Choirs, both in school and in church, from a very young age. As she celebrates her 40th year in the music industry she often attributes the skills and joy she learnt during this time, as the best preparation for her future career. In all her guises within the music industry, she is perhaps best known for her Eurovision success, representing her country twice and winning for Ireland in 1993. She has recorded many albums and collaborations, in particular lending her vocals to one of the best selling soundtrack albums “theCommitments”.

Niamh continues to appear on many TV programmes and toured all over the world, as a solo artist and as a member of ‘The Illegals’, a highly successful 7 piece band that pays homage to the wonderful music of the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. Her stunning voice and sparkling wit make her a fan favourite in all she does. Touring all over the world, she has performed live her whole career and is equally at home in small intimate venues to large stadiums.

Alongside her music career Niamh has turned her hand to Musicals and Stage acting. She revelled in her parts as Evil Queen more than once and was described as a ‘show stealer’on occasion. Brushing up on her Irish language skills she has featured as a Judge on TG4 Junior Eurovision, every year since 2015. She loves to encourage young talent and sees it as a way to give back to an industry she loves. In 2017 Niamh continued to challenge herself and was crowned Celebrity Masterchef winner. Since 2021 Niamh and Gearoid Farrelly have been hosting an award winning podcast called Agony Rants. A show that gives advice to the problems sent in from avid listeners. They are in no way qualified, but they do say a problem shared. In 2026 she competed in the Irish Dancing With The Stars. Niamh loved the challenge of taking on a brand new skill and discovered the joy of dancing. Music is still at the heart of everything that drives Niamh, and she is excited for what is ahead in her 60s.
