Remembering the late great balladeers. For as long as anyone can remember, Ireland has been richly blessed with wonderfully talented composers, singers and entertainers.
From the days of Percy French and John McCormack in the early 1900’s, and later on with The Clancys, The Dubliners, Pecker Dunne & Jim McCann to name but a few, our singers and writers have touched the hearts and souls of millions of people. Even as the years fly by, new generations are captivated and inspired by our gifted writers and balladeers from bygone days.
Chris Kavanagh was raised on Irish folk and is well known as the lead singer of successful band “The Legend Of Luke Kelly”. He has performed with The Dubliners on several occasions and appears on their 50th Anniversary DVD which was recorded in Dublin’s Vicar St. He has made it his mission to honour our great folk heroes on the live stage. His new show “The Spirit of Irish Folk” , which debuts in his favourite venue. The Civic will take you on a musical journey through Ireland in times gone by, and Chris will also perform some of his own songs which have been so influenced by the magic of his folk heroes of the past. Our late great balladeers.
