Part of Dublin Theatre Festival

By Meadhbh McHugh
Cast: Cathy Belton, Rebecca O’Mara, Paul Hickey and Seána O’Hanlon

‘The dogs on the street’d know what you had for dinner around here and yet the quiet that can be kept over some things, hah?’

Ireland’s world renowned Druid theatre company comes to the Civic to present a thrilling new play from an exciting new voice in Irish drama. With their father dying, Lynn and her older sister, Helen, return to their childhood home. Lynn’s husband, Tony, arrives uninvited while Helen’s teenage daughter Evvy is intentionally summoned. The weather is hot and sticky and relationships soon tangle into an intractable mess.

Meadhbh McHugh – whose debut radio play, April Showers was produced by RTÉ Radio One garnering a PJ O’Connor award for new writing in 2014 – brings a darkly funny, sharply intelligent and fresh perspective to the rivalries and frailties among a family who must try to speak.

A unique seating arrangement, raised above the stage, provides audiences with a fly-on-the-wall perspective into this unravelling domestic setting.

Set and Lighting Design: Aedín Cosgrove
