Hosted by Claire Hennessy, this event gathers three exciting debut novelists to share their journey of writing and releasing their debut novel to the world. Claire will talk to Kathleen Murray (The Deadwood Encore), Olivia Fitzsimons (The Quiet Whispers Never Stop) and Amanda Geard (The Midnight House).

Kathleen Murray was born in Carlow and educated at Trinity College, Dublin. She has published work in The Stinging Fly, Dublin Review, Winter Papers and various anthologies. In 2007 she was the first Irish winner of the Fish Short Story Prize, and she was a finalist for the Davy Byrnes Short Story Award for her story Storm Glass. The Deadwood Encore is her first novel.
Olivia Fitzsimons is from Northern Ireland and now lives in Wicklow. She is the recipient of the Centre Culturel Irlandais Paris/Literature Ireland Residency 2022/23 and has been awarded grants from the Arts Council of Ireland and Northern Ireland for her writing. Her work has appeared in publications such as The Irish Times, The Stinging Fly and The Cormorant, and broadcast on BBC Radio 4, Short Works. The Quiet Whispers Never Stop (John Murray Press 2022) is her first novel and was an Irish Writers Centre Novel Fair Winner in 2020.
Amanda Geard was born in Australia and has lived all over the world, from a houseboat in London to a Norwegian Island, before settling in County Kerry. Her writing has appeared in The Irish Times, The Journal, writing.ie, Nordic Reach and Vertical Magazine. Her short story Not Yet Recycled won the New Irish Writing Award in October 2019. The Midnight House, her debut novel, was published with Headline Review in May.
