Recently Highrock Productions in association with The Civic visited Coláiste de hÍde. Teacher Edel Ní Arrachtáin gave us her feedback.
‘Chuir scoláirí ó bhliain a 5 tús le scéim nua drámaíochta i gcomhpháirt le The Civic, Tamhlacht, agus Sean & Niall McDonagh, Highrock Productions. Roghnaíodh Coláiste de hÍde le trí scoil eile sa cheantar chun léiriú drámatúil de na scéalta atá ar chúrsa litríochta na hArdteiste a chur ar an stáitse. Léireofar obair na gceithre scoileanna ar stáitse The Civic i dTamhlacht san Fhómhar.
Ó thús go deireadh, bhí na scoláirí gníomhach san fhoghlaim agus gafa leis an obair cruthaitheach a bhí faoi stiúradh Niall agus Seán ó Highrock Productions. Bhí fuinneamh ard le brath sa seomra agus na scoláirí ag baint lán-sult as na geaitsí, cluichí agus carachtair a iarradh orthu a chruthú. Chuir siad tús le script a scríobh le chéile don stáitse agus beidh forbairt air sin thar ama. Tá na scoláirí ag súil go mór leis an gcéad sheisiúin eile cheanna féin! ‘
‘5th year students have started a new drama initiative in partnership with The Civic Theatre, Tallaght, and Sean & Niall McDonagh of Highrock Productions. Coláiste de hÍde has been selected with three other schools in the area to stage a dramatic production of the stories on the Leaving Certificate Literature course. The work of the four schools will be performed on stage at The Civic in Tallaght in the Autumn.
In the first workshop, the students were actively engaged in their learning and creative work under the imaginative direction of Niall and Seán from Highrock Productions. There was a high level of energy in the room as the students thoroughly enjoyed the games and characters they were asked to create. They started writing a script together for the stage and this will be developed over time. The students are looking forward to the next session already!’
