The Civic is delighted to be supporting a group of theatre makers who have been devising, workshopping and developing a new piece of theatre based around Bram Stokers’ gothic masterpiece, Dracula, in our Loose End Studio for the past week.
The play is being developed around a relatively unknown section of the Dracula novel where the ship, the Demeter, brings Dracula from Romania to the port of Whitby. The piece will explore the dramatic possibilities of this chilling, tension filled voyage.
The play was was workshopped in November 2014 as part of the legacy project for Limerick City of Culture.
A strong creative team including writer Colin Dunne, theatre director Joan Sheehy, dramaturg Gavin Kostick, composer Tom Lane, Lighting Designer Paul Keoghan and performer Mary Lou McCarthy and Shane O’Reilly will hopefully lead to the creation of a fascinating piece of theatre.
