Following the success of Blind Panic by Sightless Cinema at Civic in 2023, the company return with a new show ‘Home’.
Close your eyes, and think of ‘Home’ -a programme of shorts, ranging from family drama to hospital farce. The immersive surround sound audio plays are a feast for the imagination- because all the pictures are in your head. Optional blindfolds are provided to help bring into the world of Sightless Cinema.
The programme includes ‘Sleep’, a comedy set in a sleep study clinic, where insomniacs and sleepwalkers rule the night. In ‘The Committee’ Ballinagalt village Tractorfest committee is falling apart- can a hero emerge to save the village? In ‘Homeless Bound’ by Tallaght Sightless Cinema, when a mother dies leaving the family farm to two brothers there are big questions left to be answered, and a mountain to climb. The evening will also feature live audio dramas performed on stage by members of the Sightless Cinema Network from South Dublin, Meath, and Laois, who join forces again to present Home.
In its tenth successful year Sightless Cinema is a collaborative arts project for people with sight loss to devise and produce audio theatre, led by director Ciarán Taylor. Since 2015 they have presented seven original programmes at venues including the Lighthouse and IMC Tallaght Cinemas. In March Sightless Cinema Tallaght group completed a sell-out national tour of ‘In the Dark’, their all-live audio play about sight-loss.
