A Likely Story Productions are delighted to bring their sell-out, hit show “The Voice Within – A Showband Story” to The Civic, Tallaght for it’s Dublin premiere. This original play with music, written by company co-founders Carol Gleeson and Helen Spring, continues it’s hugely successful run having wowed audiences in Kildare and Carlow over the past number of months.
Set in Donegal in the 1960’s golden era of music, the story follows an unassuming young man who finds himself at the helm of an up-and-coming showband. Garnering attention from two local girls, Tommy O’Grady struggles with his new found persona both on and off stage, and the love triangle that ensues. Through a series of memorable characters, we witness a snapshot in time when Ireland is finally starting to find its’ voice. Alongside a live seven piece band, this nostalgic play includes hits such as “The Hucklebuck”, “Rock Around the Clock” and “From the Candystore On the Corner” among many others.
