AboutFACE are hugely excited to be bringing their NEWvember Festival of New Plays to the Civic for the first time with two fun events taking you behind-the-scenes of theatre, on Sunday November 3rd ! This is the 8th annual NEWvember, their festival where they share exciting new plays they’ve discovered from Ireland and around the world, through rehearsed readings of the plays followed by Q&As with the playwrights.  They took some time to tell us all about it!

‘We have two exciting NEWvember 2019 events at the Civic on Sunday 3rd November – a roundtable discussion with a mix of emerging and established playwrights, and a rehearsed reading of a brilliant new comedy about a family and friends on holiday, to be followed by a post-show Q&A with the writer Emily Bohannon, who is joining us from New York. After 5 years in New York, this is the 3rd year NEWvember will be held in Dublin, and the first year that events will take place at the Civic. Previous plays developed at NEWvember have gone on to great success, including winning awards and being produced in Ireland, New York and Europe. AboutFACE’s recent world premiere at the Civic in August, The Gods of the Ozarks (“a rich theatrical experience with plenty of laughs” – Irish Independent) was developed at NEWvember 2018.

Come and join us to see exciting new works-in-progress, to find out more about the playwriting process, and give your feedback to help writers develop their plays!
