Gearrscéalta is part of the Civic’s Education programme and supported by Arts Council. Recently, Highrock Productions in association with The Civic visited Coláiste Chilliain. Teacher Maedhbh Ní Cheallaigh gave us her feedback.

‘Bhain ár ndaltaí an-sult as an gceardlann drámaíochta a bhí curtha ar súil dúinn tríd an Civic Theatre. Bhí deis ag ár ndaltaí triail a bhaint as rud a bhí nua dóibh. Chonaic mé iad ag meascadh le chéile agus ag gáire mar ghrúpa. Tá daltaí an-chiúin sa ghrúpa seo agus chuir sé gliondar ar mo chroí iad a fheiceáil ag glacadh páirt agus ag baint taitneamh as. Tá mé an-bhuíoch go raibh an deis againn páirt a ghlacadh sa cheardlann seo’.
‘Our students thoroughly enjoyed the drama workshop organised through the Civic Theatre. The students got the opportunity to try something new to them. I saw them mix and laugh together as a group. Some of the students in this group would be very quiet and to see them interact and laugh was heartwarming. I am very grateful that we got the opportunity to participate in this workshop’.

‘Great day in Coláiste Chillian working with their 5th years exploring the themes in the short story Dís. Lovely to work through the medium of Irish developing their drama and presentation skills. We challenged them to improvise a range of situations relevant to the story and they brought energy enthusiasm and fun. Looking forward to working with them again in the Autumn.

Thugamar dúshlán doibh tobchumadh a dhéanamh bunaithe ar na cáractéirí sa Scéal agus D’eirígh go hiontach leo . Bhí na sceitsí cruthaitheach, lán le greann agus spraoi. Gearrscéalta is an Irish Storytelling Drama programme with High Rock Productions, for 5th & 6th Years from four secondary schools in South Dublin area, studying Irish at Leaving Cert/ Senior Cycle 2026. This pilot programme delves into the short stories, Gearrscéalta on the Irish Leaving Certificate Curriculum with fun and practical drama workshops to enhance students engagement and develop a grá for spoken Irish and performance. We are looking forward to learning more about in the new school term!
