Our Associate Artist, Laura Macken facilitated contemporary style dance workshops today 25th July with the seniors group, age range 13-17 years from our Performance Arts Summer Camp.
There were 25 participants actively engaged and learning about new ways to improve their practice and refinement of their dance skills ‘connection and expression’.
Laura also introduced the group to ‘how certain skills can be used in both ballet, contemporary and musical theatre’. The students discussed about the quality of movement and how to emphasise different elements of the movement. This ties in with their own individual interpretation of the movement and how you put it to the music.
The Learning:
How you think of movement, execute steps and bring for auditions in the future unique, different moves you’ve never done before contemporary, some skills overlap in style.
