The Corps Ensemble in collaboration with Civic Theatre aim to explore one of the Irish canon’s most important yet long side-lined works. The Great Hunger, first performed in 1983 by the Abbey Theatre, changed the landscape of Irish drama with Tom MacIntyre’s adaptation of Patrick Kavanagh’s epic poem being celebrated in New York, Edinburgh, Paris, Moscow and Dublin for its physical and poetic force.

This celebratory and spiritual play considers the hunger that lies within us all: the hunger of the senses. Join The Corps Ensemble — ‘one of Ireland’s most daring young theatre companies’ — in this exploration of upbringing, poverty, and religion and its effects on human desires.
