TenderWRITE, New Writing, New Voices is an evening of short plays and extracts from longer works for the stage by young playwrights between the ages of 16 & 24.
The Civic Theatre runs three writing programmes for young people:
Tenderfoot’s Writing For Theatre Programme An introduction for TY students to writing for the stage.
Tenderfoot’s Summer Writing Intensive Further development for young writers with plays produced each year during Tenderfoot’s MAIN Production Module.
TenderWRITE A long term programme for young people between the ages of 16 & 24 interested in writing for theatre. The value of new artistic voices, young artistic voices is immense. What are the stories they want to tell? With fresh eyes and ever-changing cultural references what are the ways that they want to tell them? All Tenderfoot programmes operate on an apprenticeship model. Young people learn from and are mentored by experts in their field. All Tenderfoot mentors are working theatre professionals.
TenderWRITE, New Writing, New Voices will be directed by Amy Conroy and performed by a cast of professional actors featuring Kwaku Fortune, Colleen Keogh and Jimmy Kavanagh. Short plays include works by David Rawle and Blaithín Seville with longer extracts from plays in progress by Aisling Coilféir and Cal Murray.
TenderWRITE’s core mentors are Gavin Kostick and Veronica Coburn. Veronica Coburn is Programme Director of Tenderfoot.
