Scéalta Gasta by High Rock Productions, in partnership with Civic Education, is a programme for 4th-6th Class children and class teachers that develops a grá for the Irish language through storytelling and theatre-making.
This Autumn, Sean & Niall McDonagh of High Rock productions visited three schools; Scoil Damian, St Thomas & Gaelscoil na Giúise, and delivered high-quality drama-led workshops to two classes per school. They gave great guidance for class teachers to make & tell the stories of Bradan Fasta & An Táin with each of the six groups.

On  Wednesday, 15th October, we were delighted to welcome a total of 135 children from 4th-6th Class from Scoil Damian, St Thomas & Gaelscoil na Giúise to present in the Main Space at The Civic. It was great to see the work the class teachers’ and children had done, from the workshops in the classroom to fine-tuning these terrific stories and performing for their peer classes on stage!  Well done all!

Scéalta Gasta, clár ceardlanna do ranganna 4-6, cuirthe i láthair ag High Rock agus an Civic Theatre, chun grá don Ghaeilge agus  drámaíocht a chothú.
An Fomhair seo, Thug Sean agus Niall McDonagh, ó High Rock Productions cuairt ar trí scoileanna, Scoil Damien, St Thomas NS agus Gaelscoil na Giúise, le ceardlanna drámaíochta  den scoth a éascú le 2 rang i ngach scoil.
Spreag siad na múinteoirí agus na daltaí chun scéalta Fionn Mc Cumhail, an Bradán feasa agus an Táin a chur i láthair.

Dé Céadaoin seo caite, 15ú Deireadh Fomhair, bhí an-áthas orainn fáilte a chuir roimh 135 daltaí ó rang 4-6 ó Scoil Damian, Scoil Naomh Thomáis agus Gaelscoil na Giúise chun seóanna a chuir i láthair ar an stáitse ag an Civic Theatre le High Rock Productions. Bhí sé iontach an oibre a bhí déanta ag na páistí (agus na múinteoirí!!) ón gceardlann sa seomra ranga agus ag feabhsú na scéalta iontach seo, an Táin agus an Bradán Feasa… agus ag aisteoireacht ós comhair lucht féachana dá gcairde fhéin ar an stáitse! Maith sibh go léir!!!!

Feedback
6th class and I would like to thank you for having us at the Civic theatre.
From Sean and Neil coming into our school to the performance at the Civic theatre, it was highly enjoyable for all of us. The lads had such a high energy from the moment they came into our school, they were so easy to work with and put all students at ease immediately. It was the first time that all students got involved in an extracurricular activity and it was particularly special to see students with additional needs be involved without hesitation. The lads were amazing at positively reinforcing and affirming everyone’s ideas and seemed to have a way of getting the best out of every child.

To see the children use Irish with such enjoyment is something that I think every class in Ireland deserves – perhaps that is the key to promoting our language.
We were so lucky to be involved in this programme and hope other schools get to experience it. A big GRMA to Mary and the Civic theatre for curating a core memory for our children in their last year of primary school.
