Can you see what’s boiling under the surface?  We are in the midst of huge global changes. Unarmed and unprepared; our wings are clipped, fuses are short and all is needed is a spark to set it all in flames.

Led by Dublin choreographer Matt Szczerek BIRDS brings skilful and energetic hip-hop, contemporary dance and circus moves with a hypnotic, pumping soundtrack.  What plan can we hatch to make things better for ourselves?

Kundle Kru – a 5 person international dance and circus troupe, is Coming to The Civic 4-7 Sep as part of Dublin Fringe Festival to perform BIRDS . Meet the wonderful performers who make up this dance ensemble.

Timothy Kakeeto – performer

 Timothy Kakeeto AKA ‘Megalotron’AKA ‘BuckTitan X’ is an Ugandan dancer, dance teacher and choreographer living in Sweden. He is a Krump dancer who combines and adapts different dance styles to Krump that he previously danced. He is a member of ‘MAM Dancecompany’ and Kundle Cru. Timothy likes to create concepts that have not existed before, his biggest inspiration is his Krump mentor ‘JamyNoizz’ AKA ‘BuckTitan’; from Paris,  as well as his "Fam" (Crew)’JBK’; who are also based in Paris also created by JamsyNoizz.  Timothy has worked with several different productions both in Sweden and abroad, as well
as taught & choreographed.

Alessio Motta – performer

Alessio Motta is an Italian born circus artist. Alessio’s key disciplines are Chinese Pole and Dance-Acro. He attended the circus course at Scuola di Cirko Vertigo before studying his degree at DOCH University of Dance and Circus. Alessio had taught for three years circus at INAC (Instituto Nacional de Artes do Circo) and previously Sundbyberg Kulturskola, Stockholm and is an experienced workshop leader.  He has performed solo at international festivals such as Brocante, Universo Paralelo, Boomtown, Tutti Matti per Colorno, Mirabilia, SlipUp Arte as well as in company shows such as Circa at Auch Festival, with Cirko Vertigo and SOHO (Stufish Productions), performed for Sadler’s Wells. Working alongside Far From The Norm, he was one of the core company members for Union Black, a hip hop dance and circus project funded by Creative Europe which toured to Sweden, Ireland, France and England. Alessio performs internationally and is a member of Rough Connections (RoughCo) as well as a founder member of Kundle Cru.

Nosossel – performer

Nosossel is a performance artist who specializes in circus. She graduated in physical theatre performing studies in 2022 at the ‘Escola Superior de Arte Dramática de Galicia’. In 2022 she won the 2nd place in the Galician arts contest ‘Xuventude Crea’, in the theatre category, with her piece: ‘Solo se aplaude al’;. She continued her training at two different circus schools, first in ‘Circonove’, in Santiago de Compostela, and then at the ‘Instituto Nacional de Artes do Circo’, in Portugal. There, she specialized in the discipline of chinese pole and started her first solo project:  ‘Cascarón’. She also has non-formal experience in pole dance and KRUMP street dance style. She’s very passionate and hardworking and is looking to integrate and create projects that challenge established languages and creation methods, questioning both the artists and the audience. She’s also up to have fun, and bring people the joy that art can give.

Mateusz Szczerek – choreographer and performer

Mateusz Szczerek is a Dublin based dance artist and professional member of Dance Ireland. Matt is Artistic Director for Irish based company Human Collective and choreographer for International Circus/Dance company Kundle Cru. His recent work includes  Home Bird by Trixter Company, Palimpsest – choreographed by David Bolger, CoisCéim Dance Theatre, Mortal Business, an in development new work with choreographer Jonathan Mitchel. Matt is an artist in residence at Draíocht Theatre for 2025, researching dance piece for and with participation of young audiences from Dublin 15 and surrounding areas. He received a RSS Digital Commission 2023 at Civic Theatre as a  artist for using animation, dance and VR technology at Dublin Fringe Festival 2023 to develop new work ‘Matt & Hat’.
Matt has choreographed dance/circus production Blame Game by Kundle Cru in produced by Crying Out Loud, touring internationally to Germany, Netherlands, UK and Ireland. He is currently developing new work Birds by Kundle Cru through a series of residencies during 2024 funded by an AGF2024 and rehearsals/premiering in Cork/Dublin for 2025. Matt recieved AGF funding for 2026 and 2027 to develop new multidisciplinary outdoor work with innovative circus apparatus developed by Barnz from Pirates of Carabinas. Matt also continues to curate Dance2Connect LAB, a development program for dancers with International mentors in partnership with Dance
Ireland and Luail. Matt toured Ireland with over 50 performances of Up-Close in 2022 choreographed by Monica Munoz and recently received oYer of being one of the lead artists for NEST project at Draíocht Theatre. In 2019 he was selected to be part of The Lir’s LIGHTING DESIGN FOR DANCE mentored by Liz Roche. In 2018 Mateusz choreographed Fable for Dublin Fringe Festival nominated for best ensemble award. Same year he was selected as an Artist in Residence for Rua Red gallery. Matt worked with CoisCéim Dance Theatre performing as a principal dancer in The Wolf and Peter (2017 Sydney Opera House). In 2017 he was selected by Botis Seva of Far From The Norm dance company as the lead Irish artist for international production Union Black, a Creative Europe funded partnership project led
by Crying Out Loud with Cork Midsummer Festival, Le Petit Cirque Du Monde andSubtopia.

Louiseanne Wong – performer


Louiseanne Wong (she/they) aka Raw Koba is a non-binary movement artist, choreographer and coach. Born in Hong Kong, they studied music and dance in Hong Kong, England and Los Angeles (University of Manchester, Laban Conservatoire, IDA Hollywood). Fusing dance, circus and parkour they map themself in space, indoors and outdoors, searching for authentic connections with themself, their collaborators and audiences. They explore their identity and East Asian heritage through playing with non-horizontal dimensions, object
manipulation and overcoming obstacles. Credits include: Breakin Convention Open Art Surgery 2025, Lowry Developed With Artist 2024 26, Turn Prize 2024, Breathe Slam x Dance Battle 2024 co-winner with Yasmine Dankwah, multidisciplinary shows indoors and outdoors internationally, Free Your Mind (Manchester Factory International), Marinella Senatore (feminist inclusive luminarie exhibitions Palais de Tokyo), Upswing UK (European Short Film Festival award winner), Imagineer’s Bridge (BBC feature), Blame Game (Kundle Cru x Crying Out Loud). Coaching credits: INAC Portugal, Lowry CAT, Roundhouse, Counterplay Festival Denmark, Reimagined City Migrant Festival Manchester, Scarabeus’ Take Flight, Royal Academy of Dance, Step into Dance, The Embodiment Conference, Mountview, Central School of Speech and Drama Applied Theatre MA students.
