In October 2025, Mary Curran, of WhistleBlast Quartet toured 3 primary schools in South Dublin County with Bang, Beat & Blast facilitating French Horn & Percussion workshops with over 200 children from Infants to 6th Class.  During the workshops the children were introduced to an array of percussion instruments and each got to try out and play alongside Mary, making soundscapes and imagining scenes and stories.

It was a fantastic experience for all to gain access, enjoy and appreciate music in the classroom!
The participating schools were Scoil Naomh Aine, Clondalkin, Solas Chríost National School, Tallaght and Scoil Nano Nagle, Clondalkin

These FREE workshops were made possible with funding from the Arts Council.

Teachers Feedback

4th Class Teacher
“4th class absolutely loved the music workshop. They were engaged in the activities and found it very fun. In particular, they enjoyed playing the different instruments and listening to Mary play the French horn. As well as this, they loved when Mary put the cymbals to their ears and they could feel the vibrations from the instrument.”

1st Class Teacher
“The kids really enjoyed it, they found it very engaging. They enjoyed the active and hands-on aspect of getting to hold and play the instruments.”

Senior Infants Teacher
“The children said that they enjoyed playing the instruments, when Mary played the drum loudly and the cymbal. The children would have liked to have a turn of all the different instruments.”
