Drama, Song & Storytelling
An evening presenting new original works by Black and Irish creatives. With poetry expressing stories of who we are and where we have come from, and where we hope to go. A short play by Naima Mohamud, exploring ideas around long-term relationships, time and repetition. And music by upcoming rapper, Credence, and singer, Pixie Nova, with accompaniment by a live 2 piece band.
We will also be presenting the performance reading of the companion piece to the gallery installation “Rice and Bean: 2 Kitchen” verbatim poetry by Tanya Bridgeman.
The evening features performances by Victor Adejobi, Pixie Nova, Brooklyn Leah Minto, Gabriel Adewusi, Tierra Porter, Favour Odusola, Felispeaks and Dafe Orugbo.
Following the performances, there will be an open panel discussion on storytelling and the future of Black Irish narratives.

Black History Month at The Civic
This October, at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght, we invite you to a powerful and multi-disciplinary programme marking Black History Month with the theme “Whose Story?” — a question that invites reflection on ownership, voice, and representation in history and storytelling. Through visual art, theatre, comedy, film, music, and discussion, the programme celebrates the richness and complexity of Black Irish identity.
Showcasing the work of contemporary Black artists based in Ireland, we are celebrating Black identity in Ireland today with events that spotlight Black and Irish creatives across multiple disciplines and artforms. Curated by Civic Theatre Associate Artist, Esosa Ighodaro, the programme runs until October 26th.
