The Civic are accepting new applications for TenderWRITE, its development programme for young adults, aged 16 to 24, who are interested in writing for or making theatre. Applications are welcome from Tenderfoot graduates, young people with a creative writing practice, and third level Theatre students or recent graduates. TenderWRITE is facilitated by Veronica Coburn, Tenderfoot’s Programme Director, and Gavin Kostick, Fishamble’s Literary Manager.

There are currently 7 young playwrights taking part in TenderWRITE.

These playwrights will complete their time with TenderWRITE Autumn 2026 with public rehearsed readings of their work as part of Dublin Fringe Festival 2026. There are between 8 – 10 new TenderWRITE places available in this application round. New participants will join the existing TenderWRITE group and begin the process of writing a full-length play or piece of theatre over the course of the programme through a first, second and final drafting process. The programme is designed to run over 18 – 24 months culminating in public rehearsed readings in collaboration with Dublin Fringe Festival. New participants will work towards a public sharing of their work during Dublin Fringe Festival 2027.

TenderWRITE once monthly workshops fall on the first Tuesday of each month.

There is no cost to participation in TenderWRITE. The only cost involved is the purchase of theatre tickets for any scheduled theatre trips. Participants are expected to attend all sessions. Participants are expected to work in their own time between sessions so that they make progress throughout the programme. In
return, TenderWRITE will work to inspire and guide you and provide you with practical feedback and advice. TenderWRITE is dedicated to nurturing new artistic voices.

To apply, fill out the online application form HERE. You will also be asked to complete a writing exercise and submit a piece of your own creative writing. You can submit a play extract if you are already writing for the stage or a sketch, or if writing for theatre is new to you, you can submit a piece of prose or spoken word or a poem.
