HYPERACTIVE is a live, high-energy human dance installation with wild street energy, ‘Hyperactive’ is hugely athletic, funny and exciting. Presented by Irish Modern Dance Theatre. Choreographed by John Scott, HYPERACTIVE shows a snapshot of contemporary Irish masculinity and diversity. Stretching horseplay and dance to the limit, this high-energy piece features a diverse cast of four virtuosic outstanding male dancers, whose backgrounds range from Broadway to downtown to Afro Brazilian street dance.

John Scott (Choreographer)   

John Scott is an Irish born choreographer and performer. He is founder/Artistic Director of Irish Modern Dance Theatre and  Dancer from the Dance Festival and a member of Aosdána, an Irish affiliation of Ireland’s 250 most outstanding creative artists. He studied and performed at Irish National College of Dance/Dublin City Ballet 1982–85 in works by Anton Dolin, Anna Sokolow, Pearl Gaden and Babil Gandara. Scott’s choreographic works include Begin Anywhere, Migration Sonata, Heroes, Lear, Fall and Recover, and Actions, which was performed in Ireland and internationally at New York Live Arts, La MaMa, Danspace Project at St Mark’s Church, PS 122, New York and Dance Base, Edinburgh, Festival Racconti di Altre Danze, Italy, l’Espace Culturel Hermine, Centre Culturel Irlandais, France, Sounded Bodies Festival and Queer Zagreb, Croatia, Les Hivernales, Avignon, Tanzmesse Dusseldorf, Forum Cultural Mundial, Brazil. He dances in Oona Doherty’s Hard to be Soft, and danced in Meredith Monk’s Quarry and for Yoshiko Chuma, Sara Rudner, Anna Sokolow, Chris Yon and Thomas Lehmen. John was awarded African Refugee Network’s Culture Award for his work with Refugees and Survivors of Torture and is a subject of Sadlers Wells’ 52 Portraits by Jonathan Burrows, Matteo Fargion and Hugo Glendinning. BoRis Charrion (Dancer)

is a French movement and performance artist. He studied at the National Superior Conservatory of Music and Dance of Lyon where he had the opportunity to broaden his artistic horizons, notably through various collaborations with musicians, graphists, composers and space designers. During his studies there, he has worked with different choreographers such as Eszter Salamon, DD Dorvillier, and  Ashley Chen. He was also a member of SUB.LAB.PRO The Ensemble Program in Budapest where he worked with Jenna Jalonen, Máté Mészáros, Barnaby Booth and Lander Patrick. Since then, he is working on different projects in Dublin mostly with John Scott, Justine Doswell and Abby Zbikowski. 

Favour Odusola (Dancer)

is a Nigerian-born, Dublin-based multidisciplinary artist, educator, performer, and actor whose work bridges dance, theatre, and community engagement; blending multiple styles to inform narratives. Approaching performance through a contemporary lens, he merges Afro dance, contemporary movement, and Nigerian traditional theatre to explore identity, resilience, and cultural integration. A proud member of Dance Ireland, Create Ireland, and Theatre Forum, Favour continues to expand the boundaries of storytelling through movement and stagecraft, bringing a dynamic and culturally rooted approach to his teaching. As the founder of UMA, and co-founder of UMAKOKO and JAIVA Dance Festival, Favour has established vital platforms that spotlight Afro-dance culture and promote creative growth for dancers of all levels and communities across Ireland and beyond. His practice champions diversity, cultural exchange, and collective empowerment through performance. A skilled educator and curator, Favour has inspired over 500 individuals and dancers through Afro-dance workshops, while productions like Ekaabo have sold out, building inclusive and vibrant audiences. His proposed dance theatre piece combines Nigerian traditions with universal stories, reflecting his commitment to identity, connection, and empowering communities through art. Vinícius Martins Araújo (Dancer)

is a Brazilian dancer, born and raised in São Paulo’s countryside. Vini has been interested and participating in dance since he was a child. He considers himself a very versatile dancer, performing Street Dance, Commercial, Jazz, Ballet and Contemporary. HE SPECIALISES IN Jazz, Jazz Funk, Street Dance, Ballet, and Contemporary styles. Dance is his passion and always puts lots of energy and emotion in each executed movement. He relocated to Ireland in 2024 and has been working with John Scott performing his choreographies, HYPERACTIVE and Actions and Begin Anywhere. Vini is also currently teaching Jazz Funk and Femme Style at Drop Studios in Dublin. His diverse experience reflects a strong commitment to dance and artistic expression.

Adam O’Reilly (Dancer)

is a Dance Artist from Dublin Ireland. Working professionally since 2018 Adam has worked in various contexts of dance and movement works, Including Theatre, Film and Live Performance, both as a Dancer/ Performer and an emerging Choreographer. His work spread’s across live performance, choreography, screen-dance and facilitation.With Irish Modern Dance Theatre, Adam has performed in ‘HYPERPHYSICAL’, Dublin Fringe Festival, Choreographed by John Scott and Abby Z, ‘Hyperactive’ in 5 Lamps Arts Festival Dublin, Festival Racconti di Altre Danze, Livorno Italy, L’Espace Hermine, Sarzau France and ‘Begin Anywhere’ in 2025. Other performances include ‘This Solution’ Directed by Shaun Dunne, Choreographed by Jessie Thompson for Dublin Theatre Festival 2023, Dance Limerick’s ‘Of The People’ Choreographed by Catherine Young for Step Up 2024. Adam has recently began the development of his practice as an emerging dance maker via supports and residences from The Arts Council, Fingal County Council, Dance Ireland, Garter Lane Theatre and Project Arts Centre. As Founder and Artistic Director of COMHAR Dance, Adam has facilitated the COMHAR Workshop Day Intensive series 2025 in partnership with Dance Ireland, which sees international dance artists lead professional workshops in Dublin followed by open practice sessions with live music. Mufutau (Junior) Yusuf (Dancer)

Mufutau is a Nigeria-born Irish performer, choreographer, teacher, and curator based between Ireland and Brussels. A graduate of Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, Mufutau is a dancer with Wim Vandekeybus/Ultima Vez in Belgium and in Ireland with John Scott’s Irish Modern Dance theatre where he has created many roles including ‘Fall and Recover’, ‘Cloud Study’, ‘Actions’, ‘Lear’, ‘Inventions’ and ‘HYPERACTIVE’. He has also worked with Liz Roche Company, United Fall, Catherine Young Dance, to name a few. Mufutau debuted his first full length work in 2022, titled ‘Òwe’, which premiered in New York and subsequently at Dublin Fringe Festival and various other venues and festivals. He recent work, ‘Imapsse’ (2024), premiered at Dublin Dance Festival and continues to tour internationally to critical acclaim. Mufutau is an associate artist with Solstice Arts Centre and resident choreographer with Luail, Ireland’s national dance company, and a recipient of several Irish Arts Council Dance Bursary awards. His passion for improvisation and sharing has bought him to share his teaching practice to various platforms, festivals and institutions such as Tipperary international Dance Festival, University of Limerick, the American University in Washington, among others. Mufutau is also a co-curator of ‘TW1’ (Train With One), a bi-monthly workshop platform which aims to bridge the gap between the Irish contemporary dance scene with that of continental Europe. Since 2020, he has received numerous awards and grants, and in 2024 was honored with the Golden Afro Artistic Award in Belgium. In 2025, he was elected to Aosdána, the prestigious affiliation of creative artists supported by the Irish Arts Council.
