For two years, Koffi lives in “suspended animation” in a Direct Provision centre, staying connected to his wife and children only through video calls and distant celebrations. When his refugee status is finally granted, hope quickly fades as new policies impose a five-year wait and financial barriers to family reunification. As the distance strains his marriage and doubt begins to grow, Koffi is left facing an impossible choice: remain in Ireland and chase an uncertain future, or return to a home that may no longer be his.
