PRIVATE EVENT
Inspiring the Future Ireland (ITFI), in collaboration with Science Foundation Ireland, proudly presents this exciting event as part of Science Week. The Science of Dragons offers a fun and interactive exploration of the world of science, aiming to inspire and motivate young people to discover the endless possibilities of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) careers.
Led by the dynamic Scientific Sue, this engaging show will captivate young minds, blending the wonder of dragons with scientific discovery. The event seeks to ignite curiosity, encouraging young people to explore STEM pathways and consider future careers in these exciting fields.
The show is based on Cressida Cowell’s How to Train Your Dragon, where, without mentioning science, her Viking characters perform amazing scientific feats. Scientific Sue will explore if Cressida is a scientific genius or just a great storyteller.
Sue will need volunteers to help investigate how dragons fly and explore the science behind different dragon “fire types” like steam, ice fog, and flames to create her own dragon. She’ll also use science to help a baby dragon named “Stormfly”, who can’t fly yet, with the knowledge learned during the show.
