This dance workshop invites individuals to open their mind to the idea that movement and dance can be part of everyone’s life. The workshop begins with some breathing techniques to relax and calm the mind, and to begin engaging with your body through simple movement. The warm up uses different elements from mindful movement, yoga, and dance. We will then learn some simple dances phrases. This encourages the participants to focus on timing and musicality, increase strength, balance, and coordination, all in a fun and social environment. There is also an element of improvisation, but in a simple and structured way which brings creativity, exploration and confidence. Movement creation will be a focus of the workshop, and how dance can reflect an idea, feeling or story.
