The Civic Theatre and Bitter Like A Lemon are proud to present a work-in-progress reading of their most ambitious play to date. Delving into the world of euthanasia through the lens of a broken and fractured family. Traversing this polarising and divisive topic that many think is too taboo to discuss, let alone explore.
Angels of Mercy is a new play by Lee Coffey that explores assisted suicide, cult mentality and the dangers of unresolved trauma.
Gertie has lost her mother, unable to help as she suffered from Alzheimer’s. So Gertie did the unthinkable and killed her to ease her pain. But in the loss of her mother, she vows that other families will never suffer like she has. So she decides to help them along, with the assistance of her brothers Mack and Seymore.
Secrets, trauma and legality all collide in the next explosive play to hit the Irish stage.
