SUMMARY:Faba Trio: FREE EVENT as part of South Dublin Live
DESCRIPTION:FABA TRIO present their debut concert as part of South Dublin Live 2026 ‘Faba Trio: Live at the Civic Theatre’. \nThis concert invites an accessible introduction to audience members of all ages to contemporary chamber music. The trio consists of Gavin Ronan Kennedy (Piano)\, Dylan Quinn (Percussion) and Anthony Vala (Saxophone). \nThe centrepiece of the programme is the premiere of ‘Suite Haricot’ by Gavin Ronan Kennedy. The piece is an exploration of unique soundscapes created by the ensemble. Written with vivid soundscapes and close-up musical storytelling\, it’s a great introduction to new music. Also featuring ‘Trois Miniatures Hypnotisées’\, written by Dublin-based William Kenlon\, its three movements create a calm and meditative atmosphere and showcases the ensemble’s dynamic range through texture and colour.   The suite is followed by a collection of Chick Corea’s ‘Children’s Songs’ arranged for Piano and Soprano Saxophone by Rob Buckland. Corea stated that the pieces aim to “convey simplicity as beauty\, as represented in the spirit of a child”.  The final piece is a high energy rendition of Alexej Gerrassimez’s ‘Piazonore’. An interpolation of a much-loved nuevo tango classic by Astor Piazzolla\, ‘Libertango’\, ‘Piazonore’ is a climactic end to a vibrant and varied programme. \nPresented By: Faba Trio\nDuration: 60mins. No interval \nThis performance is funded by SDCC as part of the South Dublin Live 2026 programme\, an SDCC Arts Office initiative \n*Please note this show is in our studio space with unallocated seating. Please arrive early. Latecomers will not not be admitted.

SUMMARY:Borderless Music - An Evening with The Tolka Hot Club
DESCRIPTION:FREE EVENT \nSpend an evening with The Tolka Hot Club as they sweep you away with music that transcends borders. \nThe group presents a rich musical journey that spans the Roaring ’20s and ’30s\, the darker corners of Europe\, and the gates of Byzantium\, bringing it all firmly into the 21st century with a repertoire drawn from both sides of the Atlantic. Alongside this\, the band has crafted original compositions infused with Balkan\, Latin\, and other global influences—along with a few unexpected modern twists. The result is a lush\, atmospheric sound delivered through sumptuous vocals\, strings\, and reeds\, woven together in a hypnotic Gypsy jazz style. The group has just released its debut album\, TOLKA HOT CLUB\, now available on Bandcamp and all major streaming platforms. The album was featured as “Album of the Week” by Marty Whelan on RTÉ Lyric FM’s Marty in the Morning and was entirely independently produced and financed. The band will present a potent blend of music\, from familiar jazz standards right through a compendium of rare gems and original compositions. Music with no borders but plenty of edge! Their musical style is quite unique but has been described as nomadic swing coupled with virtuosic playing to deliver an evening that leaves audiences wanting to hear more. \nThe music takes many roads but all leads to one stage at The Civic! \nStephen Daly – guitar / violin / vocals\nHolly Pereira – vocals\nDavid Harrington – guitar\nTom Mulrooney – double bass\nEugene Ryan – harmonica\nBrendan Lawless – viola\nKen Whelan – accordion \nPresented By: The Tolka Hot Club\nDuration: 120mins. SUMMARY:Barbara Scully - Because I'm Worth It
DESCRIPTION:Following on from the success of her one woman show – ‘Older Bolder Wiser’ – Barbara Scully has a new show for 2026 called ‘Because I’m Worth It’. \nBuilding on the themes of ‘Older Bolder Wiser’ and continuing to tell women to embrace getting older and to ignore the nonsense about ‘fighting ageing’\, Barbara will once again regale her audience with stories and comedy. \nAlthough the broad theme is ‘on brand’ Barbara says the focus is slightly different. \n“I would hesitate to call myself a diva\, but you know now that I am in my sixties there is stuff I no longer tolerate… because I am a woman who has stepped into my matriarchal power and I know my worth!! And it’s a lot. Just like all older women. Although we don’t often realise it. So\, I am here to tell all women that they are worth it too”. \nBarbara says that being older is delicious especially as you realise what makes you happy and you can indulge yourself a bit more than ever before. But it can make life unexpectedly complicated and Barbara will regale audiences about the times that this new found sense of her own worth and zero tolerance for stuff that irritates her has gone very wrong. “Ultimately I am an eejit but I make mistakes so that others don’t have to. Public service right there”. \nPresented By: Barbara Scully\nDuration: 90 mins. One interval.

SUMMARY:Keep It Country: 100 years of the Grand Ole Opry- Presented by The Singalong Songbook
DESCRIPTION:The Singalong Songbook goes Country! \nIn November 2025\, The Grand Ole Opry celebrated 100 years. The Singalong Songbook sprinkle their trademark magic on the story and songs that helped shaped this iconic legacy. \nJust over 100 years ago\, an insignificant radio station in Nashville\, Tennessee began broadcasting a one-hour programme on Saturday nights. It was called WSN Barn Dance and it featured local musicians playing the traditional hill-billy music of the Appalacian Mountains\, much of it brought across the Atlantic by Irish emigrants fleeing the Famine. To the surprise and delight of the managers\, the programme took off … and how! Listeners tuned in from all across the USA. The name was changed to the “Grand Ole Opry”\, and over the years it developed into a multi-million-dollar business\, making Nashville the centre of the Country Music world. \nKeep it Country looks back on a century of country hits\, from the trailblazing twang of Hank Locklin and the rhinestone sparkle of Tammy Wynette\, to the home-spun wisdom of Jim Reeves and more. Come for the songs … and leave with the memories! \nDirected By Cathal McCabe. \nPresented By: The Singalong Songbook\nDuration: 155 mins. One interval \n

SUMMARY:FLIP
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to FLIP … a whirling\, twirling\, tumbling\, rumbling\, jumping and flipping stream of playful necessity. \nFLIP is an unstoppable ode to differences and connection. A performance full of movement\, rhythm and beautiful chaos for children and grown-ups who can’t keep still. \nFLIP is a virtuoso dance performance for young audiences that follows the journey of two characters as they move from isolation to community. It is a charming show that offers a one-of-a-kind portrayal of diversity\, alternately humorous and profound. \nCristian Dirocie and Martijn Joling\, two male dancers\, push the boundaries between breakdance and contemporary dance with their electrically charged performance\, transforming ordinary objects into extraordinary and magical creations. \nPresented By: Monica Muñoz Dance\nDuration: 40 mins.
