Council Rock South Band (Pennsylvania, USA) is delighted to perform at The Civic alongside the Tallaght Marching Band. Council Rock South Band performs regularly for the High School’s American football games each Friday in the fall. Additionally, the band performs in competition against other high school bands along the east coast. Since October of 2012, the marching band has earned an unbroken series of “Superior” ratings in festival competition. This is the highest possible rating.
The Tallaght Marching Band comprises Vikings Drum Corps, Tallaght Youth Band, Tallaght Festival Band and Winterfestival. Tallaght Youth Band was established in 1977 and was originally known as the Priory Youth Band. The band has members from Tallaght and the surrounding areas. There are 80 members in the band consisting of musicians and colour guard. The members range in age from 6 upwards, with the older members helping out with our younger cadet band. The Vikings are the All Ireland Champions for 2012, 2013 and 2014 and 2019. The concert will feature selections from Concert Bands, Winter Guard, and Marching Band. Council Rock South Marching Band is under the direction of John Burns while Tallaght Marching Band is conducted by Brian Douglas.
