Commissioned as part of Ready Steady SHOW! 2020

Anna Newell is a theatre maker based in Bray whose work for Early Years has been seen on 6 continents and who works in ongoing co-production with the Civic.  Last year, she made BigKidLittleKid – a wordless show for ages 3-6 years about the complicated world of sibling rivalry. She’s been working away to re-imagine her work in these new times (www.annanewell.co.uk/keepingitlive) and as part of this she has a Ready, Steady, SHOW! Commission to take the characters and David Goodall’s fabulous musical score from BigKidLittleKid and create a whole new improvised ‘popup play’ version to animate outdoor spaces around Early Years settings.

How do we create connection in a time of physical distance and disconnection?

This responsive, whimsical, improvised show will play private performances in various Early Years settings local to The Civic.

BigKidLittleKid was originally created through funding from Arts Council of Ireland in co-production with The Civic, The Mermaid and Draiocht with initial R&D funded by The Mermaid and The Pavilion.
