You hardly need me to remind you that these have been the most challenging of times for us all. But your Civic remains undaunted, hopeful and determined to come out of this tempest as committed to you and our community of artists as ever.
Above all, we have so missed being able to welcome you and yours into our spaces to share together that priceless enjoyment that comes from the thrill of communal laughter, excitement, shock, and spills that is the live experience. We are nothing without you and simply can’t wait for that moment when we can once more open our and proudly proclaim, come back on in !
Recently, the country has taken the first tentative steps towards reopening. The Civic, as with all other theatres, faces particular challenges to ensure that when we do so we are fully in-line with both the national safety protocols and the prevailing circumstances. Therefore, in accordance with the road map to reopening, we first needed to implement all necessary changes to ensure our facilities are secure to make and present great art work in. That now being achieved, the next steps will see our close associate artists begin take up residence once more and to explore in safety, how they can make vibrant new work within this current context. We will need to give this process time to bed-in but when circumstances allow, we will then be announcing a choice reopening programme of high quality shows that will I trust rekindle your appetite for a great night out!
So please do bear with us and watch this space in the weeks ahead.
I would also like to thank our principal partners in South Dublin County Council and the Arts Council of Ireland for their continuing support as well as all of you – too many to name or count – who have sent us your best wishes and even donated when faced with your own hardships. We so look forward to being together with you again very soon. Keep the faith; for we do!
