Stagecraft musical society- Next up in our series of meet the cast blogs it’s Shekainah Santos.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, where you grew up etc?
I’m Shekainah Santos. I grew up in Lucan and still currently living here. I recently graduated from secondary school and completed my Leaving Certificate State Examinations.
Tell us about your interest in the performing arts?
I’ve always had a passion for dancing ever since I was a little girl. It was only a year or two ago when I discovered I also enjoy singing and acting. At first I thought it was just a hobby but ever since I joined Stagecraft Musical Group, I started to think that it was possible I could make it as a career.
What is your role in the upcoming Stagecraft musical?
I’m playing Mrs Wormwood in Matilda and Michelle in Sister Act. I’ve played mean girls in previous shows so I think it would be easy for me to play a glammed evil mother and a sassy popstar wannabe.
What is your favourite bit about performing?
I enjoy entertaining the audience and telling a story. I always look forward to acting because we get to portray well known characters in our own way.
Would you like a career on stage or behind the scenes?
I would like to have a career in both. One of my course choices for college is Film and Theatre Practice in DKIT.

Stagecraft Musical Group was set up in 2017 as a summer musical project by South Dublin County Partnership, in conjunction with Crosscare Youth Service Clondalkin, and supported by Lucan and Clondalkin Credit Union. The aim was to offer young people aged 14-18 in South Dublin free, high quality training in singing, dancing and acting. This weekend at the Civic, they stage ‘A Night at the Musicals’ bringing you on an epic journey through some of the most well loved musicals of our time with unforgettable scenes and songs from Matilda, Aladdin, High School Musical and Sister Act. A show which promises to entertain the entire family.
