Stagecraft musical society- Next up in our series of meet the cast blogs it’s Emilia Grijincu.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, where you grew up etc?
I live in Lucan and have Romanian parents. I love getting the chance to experience both cultures. Along with the performing arts I love science and hope to be a teacher someday.

Tell us about your interest in the performing arts?
My interest in the performing arts started from a very young age. I grew up watching musicals and other stage productions. My family members say that I have been singing almost everyday for as long as they can remember.

What is your role in the upcoming Stagecraft musical?
In the upcoming musical I am playing the role of sister Mary Robert who I am very excited to play as it is quite different to the other roles I have had in past.

What is your favourite bit about performing?
My favourite part about performing is hearing the reactions from the audience as the plot develops on stage. I also like performing because I get to do my hobbies  (acting, singing and dancing) and I hope to inspire others to become more confident in their hobbies and ideas and fulfil their dreams.

Would you like a career on stage or behind the scenes?
I would love to continue acting when I am older and my dream would be to act on Broadway at least once. I look up to a lot of Broadway actresses such as Laura Osnes and Christy Altomare and would love to have an impact on someone the way they have had on me.

Stagecraft Musical Group was set up in 2017 as a summer musical project by South Dublin County Partnership, in conjunction with Crosscare Youth Service Clondalkin, and supported by Lucan and Clondalkin Credit Union. The aim was to offer young people aged 14-18 in South Dublin free, high quality training in singing, dancing and acting.  This weekend at the Civic, they stage ‘A Night at the Musicals’ bringing  you on an epic journey through some of the most well loved musicals of our time with unforgettable scenes and songs from Matilda, Aladdin, High School Musical and Sister Act. A show which promises to entertain the entire family.
