As part of The Civic Education programme 2025 we are proud to present Rachel Drew- Artist, making wonderful new work for Babies and Early Years Children.
With the support of The Arts Council we’re delighted to welcome Rachel to The Civic Theatre. Over the coming months, Rachel plans to develop her work and style as an Artist. There are plans to showcase a-work-in-development live show for babies and toddlers to enjoy and experience later this Spring. The working title for the piece is Soothing Songs.
Rachel is passionate about how singing can help babies and young children develop non-musical skills such as language and speech development, numeracy, motor coordination, and social interaction. As a performer, arts practitioner and researcher, her work empowers and enables parents and guardians to enjoy the benefits of singing with children. Her vision for Soothing Songs is to continue to improve the bond between babies, toddlers and their grown ups by attending her presentation of work.
Rachel is well known and has a great following for her regular sing-a-long sessions for babies and toddlers in South Dublin Libraries, Tallaght. She is excited to be given this opportunity to incubate her ideas to design and shape a memorable show of soothing songs for babies and toddlers. And gain feedback from the grown ups!
Planned Engagements:
February- Concept development in the Studio
March – Rehearsals and invited audience showcase
May- Further development of Soothing Songs throughout the Spring months to make a live performance show at the end May.
