Ireland’s top all-female comedy singing sensations The Nualas are coming to Tallaght for one night only this Saturday 4th October! We had a quick chat with the comedy trio in advance of their gig!

Where did you grow up?
1) Sligo 2) Dublin and 3) Boston, Massachusetts, The United States of America.

Tell me how comedy started for you?
1) Debating in secondary school in Sligo, 2) Working with the Dublin Comedy Improv, in Dublin and 3) Trying impress some Blue Sox in Boston, Massachusetts, The United States of America.

When did you know it was what you wanted to do?
When the audience finally laughed.

Were you always funny?
Yes, yes and yes – even as kiddies we were making the other kids pee their nappies, or diapers as they say in Boston, Massachusetts.

What would you be doing if you weren’t a comedian?
1) Consultant surgeon 2)Barrister and 3)Governor of somewhere like Massachusetts.

Have you ever had an embarrassing moment on stage?
When Nuala’s waters broke in the middle of a gig, luckily it was at a midwives Christmas party, and there was lots of inebriated help on hand.

Who is your biggest inspiration?
It’s toss up between Diana Ross and Ken Dodd.

Do you have a favourite one liner joke?
Got rid of my hoover, it was just lying there collecting dust.

What’s the writing process like within The Nualas?
A mixture of torture,ecstasy and torture.

What can audiences expect from your gig at The Civic?
Oh, a fantastic mix of soul-baring, fabulous close harmony vocals, emotionally pounding lyrics, melodies and cleavages – altogether a night packed solid with delightful entertainment, resonating with sparkling laughter, ideal for enjoying with your friends, a few drinks and maybe a chocolate.
