Stagecraft musical society- Next up in our series of meet the cast blogs it’s Lily May Thunder.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, where you grew up etc?
My name is Lily May Thunder. I am 13 years old. I grew up in Clondalkin and I’ve lived there since I was born, it was my first and only home. I have two older brothers who are both in their late twenties. I’m the first in my family to do musical theatre and keep at it. I do competitive horse riding, dancing , singing, acting and I also teach and play the guitar.
Tell us about your interest in the performing arts?
I love performing in front of any audiences. I started acting when I was eight years old at talented kids performing arts school and I still attend classes. There is just something about the performing arts that attracts me more than other activities. I participate in as many things such as this that I can.
What is your role in the upcoming Stagecraft musical?
My upcoming role in stagecraft musical is the role of Matilda Wormwood. Matilda is a five year old child who is quite intelligent and has a whole lot of confidence. I am very excited to play the role of this mischievous little bookworm! I am also one of the dancers for Aladdin!
What is your favourite bit about performing?
To be honest my favourite bit about performing is the rush of adrenaline that I get once I set foot on that stage, though I do love going to rehearsal because I have met so many new and fabulous people that I feel like I have known my whole life! I love getting the work done too as well!
Would you like a career on stage or behind the scenes?
I would 100% love to land a career on stage. I would hate to miss out on having that rush of adrenaline once I’m on stage, I just couldn’t imagine being backstage!!

Stagecraft Musical Group was set up in 2017 as a summer musical project by South Dublin County Partnership, in conjunction with Crosscare Youth Service Clondalkin, and supported by Lucan and Clondalkin Credit Union. The aim was to offer young people aged 14-18 in South Dublin free, high quality training in singing, dancing and acting. This weekend at the Civic, they stage ‘A Night at the Musicals’ bringing you on an epic journey through some of the most well loved musicals of our time with unforgettable scenes and songs from Matilda, Aladdin, High School Musical and Sister Act. A show which promises to entertain the entire family.
