As we head into the week of the work in progress performance of Our Lady of Last Resort; The Story of Mamie Cadden, we took some time to get to know a bit more about the makers.
Lisa Krugel is the designer.

Where did you grow up?
Near Schull in West Cork.

Can you tell us a bit about your background in the arts?
I first studied acting then fell into Stage Management, which I really enjoy and still also work in. I first began designing for stage while studying technical theatre in Inchicore College of Further a Education. Most recently I qualified with an MFA in stage design from The Lir Academy.

What has been your career highlight to date?
There’s highlights in every production; it would be impossible to pick out one. Every new project becomes a bit of an obsession and a love affair. You’ve got to love the one you’re with!

Can you give us some background on your involvement in Mamie the Mamie Cadden project?
I have been hearing about this project for many years now – attending readings on several occasions as it had gone through its different iterations. I became directly involved last year during the research and development workshop at the Civic.

What’s next for you?
I go straight into rehearsals for “Norah” at The New Theatre for which I’m designing costumes. It opens on April 10th. Then I will be spending much of the summer months stage managing a season of different projects in various locations with Liz Roche Dance Company.

Tell us a random fact about yourself?
I lived on a boat for the first year of my life.
