The Civic are delighted to announce the appointment of Donal Shiels as the new Artistic Director of The Civic.
According to Peter Kavanagh, Chairman of The Civic,
“As chair of the board of the Civic, I want to thank Michael Barker-Caven for his transformative work on behalf of the organisation. Under Michael’s stewardship we have grown from one of the most progressive regional theatres in Ireland to one of the country’s leading arts centres. We could not have achieved this without Michael’s vision and drive, and I wish him every success in his next endeavours.
Donal Shiels brings with him an immense CV and tremendous experience in the arts sector over the last three decades. As the entire sector re-emerges from COVID-19, we are delighted to entrust the future of the Civic to a person of Donal’s standing and look forward to working with him in the next chapter of the theatre’s storied history.”
And on his appointment Donal said,
“I am thrilled and excited to be the new Artistic Director of The Civic Theatre and work with the fantastic team there.
