Waiting for IKEA WAITING FOR IKEA, a side-splitting story of friendship, family, community and sunbed obsessives, is back by popular demand. The critically acclaimed production premiered at the 2007 Dublin Fringe Festival where it was nominated for The Bewleys Café Theatre Award, The Fishamble New Writing Award and was the first show in the history of the festival to sell out in advance of opening. Seen by over five thousand people, the show continues to be a box office hit. Set in the heart of ‘new’ Dublin, where night wear is day wear and bitching is everywhere, WAITING FOR IKEA is a sharp and nostalgic comedy exploring the bittersweet world of two best friends in inner city Dublin. Written and performed by real-life friends Georgina McKevitt and Jacinta Sheerin, the play tells the story of Chrissie and Jade who spend their days waiting; waiting for the postman, waiting for the kettle to boil and waiting for Coronation Street. They won’t shop in Argos “cos we’re waiting for IKEA”. Pimlico flats is akin to ‘Cheers’, everybody knows your name, your business, your record and what you are having for dinner. Nothing much changes in Pimlico, each day begins and ends the same; it’s what happens in between that keeps the neighbours interested. The only current affairs these girls are concerned with is whether Mrs. Dignam is having it off with Gunner Eye Gilby. The Celtic tiger has been and gone and they never even stroked it. “Recession – is that a new fragrance by Calvin Klein?” “I loved it ... if you want to escape from the doom and gloom then this is the show for you”. Róisín Ingle, the View RTE. Tuesday 16th – Saturday 20th February @ 8pm Admission: €18 & €16 concession Main Auditorium |

Irish Pink Floyd Described as “a musical and visual feast for the Pink Floyd fanatic as well as the casual fan alike”. The Irish Pink Floyd presents a show that combines the very best of Pink Floyd’s back catalogue with the extravagance of their legendary live shows. The Irish Pink Floyd setlist for 2010 includes songs from The Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, Wish You Were Here. The Wall and The Final Cut. Visually the show is stunning, with the largest sound and lighting system currently on tour in Ireland. The Irish Pink Floyd makes significant use of expanded theatrical elements prevalent in Pink Floyd’s elaborate 70s and 80s stage displays such as high-tech lighting, video accompaniments and the obligatory helicopter searchlight, heartbeat and clock chimes; all of which result in an incredible live experience. The Irish Pink Floyd are a six-piece band who rock out Pink Floyd’s non-singles as frequently as the hits. They have managed to recapture to perfection the musical skills and stage theatrics of a band that has influenced generations. Tuesday 16th March @ 8pm Admission: €20 Main Auditorium |

What Men Want By Peadar de Burca WHAT MEN WANT is a hilarious one-man show from writer and performer Peadar de Burca Following the proven method used for his first hit show, de Burca took off across the country and interviewed more than 150 men, and a few women, in an effort to discover the secrets behind what every man wants, and what every woman wants to know. So why should men and women go see the show? “For men, I’d say to raise their awareness ... a lot of mistakes we make are because of a lack of confidence and a lack of awareness,” says de Burca. “For women, this show will give them an understanding of a very complex species … and maybe help them to sympathise with us a bit!” WHAT MEN WANT is not for the bashful or the easily shocked and it’s definitely not for men who can’t laugh… at themselves! “One of the funniest shows this year” – Ryan Tubridy Wednesday 7th – Saturday 10th April @ 8.15pm Admission: €20 & €16 concession Loose End |
